Déjà Vu

I’ve become unstuck in time.

I have been here before.

I’ve seen all these faces,

that desk, and that door.

I’ve done this task before,

somewhere in my dreams,

or maybe another universe.

Life isn’t what it seems.

Vonnegut’s got me thinking,

“Where is Tralfamador?”

“Are aliens and time travel real?”

I am eager to know more.

I would ask him all my questions

and learn all he knows,

but he is dead now.

As Billy says, “So it goes.”

This will always remain a mystery,

to everyone, me, and you,

of how we become unstuck in time;

it’s what we call “déjà vu.”
